How to redirect all HTTP requests to HTTPS

When you add an SSL certificate to your website, the URL visitors use to view your site changes from HTTP to HTTPS. The 'S' ensures that your connection is encrypted. After adding an SSL certificate you should force all URLs on your site to automatically redirect to the HTTPS version.

After SSL Certificate has been successfully installed in most cases a redirection from HTTP to HTTPS is needed.

  • Login to Cpanel
  • Click File Manager

  • On the left side click on public_html

  • On the right side of the browser click on Setting

  • Select Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)
  • Show hidden files in cpanel
  • Look for .htaccess If you can not find it create one, on the left top click on File and add the name .htaccess and hit Enter or save it.
  • Inside .htaccess add the following 3 lines and click save

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://yourwebsite.com/$1 [R,L]

Make sure you modify yoursite.com with your actual website domain.

All traffic will be redirected to HTTPS now.
